Q-Switched Yag Laser at Leviticus Laser Tattoo Removal is the newest and one of the most effective ways to remove tattoos. It uses an intense beam of light to significantly lighten or completely remove your tattoo, without harming the surrounding healthy cells. The light energy is delivered in multiple pulses. When the ink particles of your tattoo absorb the light from the laser, they are broken into tiny fragments. These fragments are then absorbed through your bodys natural cleansing mechanism. This cleansing process generally takes 4-6 weeks. Towards the end of the 4-6 week healing/cleansing process the tattoo will appear shiny. The shininess dulling is a good indicator that the tattoo is ready for another laser session.
Laser tattoo removal is the preferred choice of most medical professionals over other methods, such as surgical excision. Dermabrasion, chemical peels and cryosurgery. It is a non-invasive and targets only the ink used in the tattoo process.
Laser Tattoo Removal FAQWhat does it feel like? The laser treatment has been described as feeling like a rubber band snapping over the area.
How much will it cost?Just like the pricing of our tattoos we quote each piece individually based on the size and placement of the tattoo. The price quoted for laser removal is per session. How many sessions it takes varies on the depth of the tattoo, the type and color of the inks used, placement on the body, the individuals immune and lymphatic systems, presence of or likely hood of scarring, and the desired end result. Unfortunately how many sessions any given tatto will take to remove can not be predicted precisely but a more accurate ball park can be estimated after a couple sessions. The minimum per session cost is $80. We do have laser removal packages at a discounted rate.
Can I have someone with me?For reasons of safety, we have a strict no children policy. Please have arrangements made for childcare before your appointment. We do not allow more than one person to accompany you during your treatment.
What do I need to do in preparation for my appointment? We encourage that all of our clients are well rested and have eaten recently before they arrive for their session.
Do all colors of ink remove the same?Dark (blue/black) inks and red inks fade the best. Oranges, Yellows, and purples usually respond well. Green, light teal/sky blue, inks are the most difficult to remove, although additional treatments can produce excellent results.
What can I expect during the healing process?Right after your tattoo removal treatment there may be pinpoint bleeding and blistering, a scab may form over the area. Your skin may have a white discoloration at first, and the area around the tattoo may be reddish and could have some swelling. After about 1 week the scab will flake off, as the skin heals in that area the fading will begin. Maximum treatment results take about five to six weeks.
What type of post-treatment care is necessary?A healing ointment and a dressing will be applied to the area. The treated area should be kept clean with continued application of ointment given to you by the health care professional. A shower can be taken the next day, although the treated area should not be scrubbed.
What are the risks involved with laser tattoo removal?Although it is not typical, occasionally hypo-pigmentation or whitening of the skin may occur. But normal skin tone should return within 6-12 months following your last tattoo removal session. Since the ink used in tattooing is not all the same, some patients have only partial clearing, even after several laser sessions.
How many laser tattoo removal treatments are required? The number of tattoo removal treatments required for maximum improvement depends on the size, location, depth and color of your tattoo. Treatments should be done four to eight weeks apart to allow your body to remove the maximum amount of tattoo pigment. Treatment sessions usually only take from 1 to 30 minutes although large tattoos can take longer. You will continue to see a lightening of your tattoo after each removal treatment as your body disposes of more pigment.
Most patients will see significant reductions in their tattoos. The improvement can be quite dramatic. However, large or heavily pigmented tattoos applied by a professional tattoo artist can require many removal treatments for optimum results.
